Just a thought
Pastor Ken’s sermon today really hit home! How many times do we blame our actions on God. I am sure he really gets tired of that. Can you imagine wanting to do something specific and someone taking it totally out of context and telling everyone that is what you “said” to do. Wow! We really need to make sure what we are feeling is truly from God and not our Taco’s from the night before. When you say or act a certain way and say that is was God or that God told you, you better be very careful, otherwise you have now just become a liar. Or maybe a false prophet. Worse you couldcause someone to fall! I don’t want to do any of that!
As a body of believers we need to make sacred the things of God and know his voice. You know when someone calls you on the phone and you know who it is because, you know their voice. But sometimes when there sick, or have been crying etc., you sometimes have to ask, who it is. That’s what I think happens a lot of the time in the body of Christ. Instead of making sure who they are hearing from, they jump on the “God Thing”. Know God’s voice. His spoken Word will not return void! His Word will bring truth, and His Word brings clarity not confusion. Remember to back it up with scripture! My father always use to tell me, can you back it with scripture?
God does not always have to roll the clouds back, send in a lighting bolt and fry a bush to talk to you! God speaks all the time, and we don’t listen. We want to do all the talkin! Hey try this, just be quiet! Now my husband would tell me to take my own advise, and you know what? I AM!
Sunday’s Review
Another great Sunday! Our Production Team did an amazing job today! We have a goal of being setup in 20 minutes, and they came closer with an amazing 28 minute setup. Last week it took us 53 minutes to setup so they did AWESOME!! Good job team.
Did anyone notice that beautiful new sound during our slow songs today? Well, we added a flute, and it was awesome. Jamie Nichols has joined the band. How exciting to use everyone’s different abilities to glorify God. Now we just need to get Bill on board! So help me out guys, when you see Bill Segal tell him you would like to see him use his talent for God!!! He plays rhythm guitar!!!
Sunday’s Review
What a great day!! We started our Fall Season for Worship Arts, and it was great!! We had John Menton, our new lead guitarist and Tiffany Synder a new vocalist on the schedule today. They did an amazing job. We sung the song “I AM FREE”, which we have sang before, however we never had the lead guitar…. and it was so amazing, what a difference an instrument can make. It also helps that he totally rocks!!!
Our Production Team did a wonderful job today, as usual. The whole day was just great, and then we got to finish the day off with a Baptism. How great is that? The weather was rainy and then when it came time to baptize, the rain stopped long enough for them to baptize and then the rain came down!! Thank you Lord for your amazing love.
You know, I am just so excited right now, I feel that God as something goin on, and I want to be right in the middle of it. I don’t want to get caught up with the things of life an miss the opportunities God has for me and for Discover Life Church. I am looking forward to our Big Day on October 19th, Ethnic Day!!!!! This is probably one of my favorite days at DLC. I love culture!! We always have an exciting picnic, with all the different types of food, and desserts to try. If you haven’t attended one of our picnics, this is the one you need to plan to attend. It is so much fun, and you will just have a great time. It is at Lake Washington Pavilion. If you need more information, you can email me at cher@discoverlifechurch.tv.
Hope you all have a great week!!!!
What Gives?
Have you ever just gotten tired of the same things reoccurring in your life over and over? You know at first we get angry, then we feel sorry for ourselves, then we give up! But why don’t we take action, change, do something different. Instead we do one of two things; we make a plan to change, then after a week or two the plan is no longer in sight, or we just ignore the feelings of today and try to forget and move on. Sad to say, this thing will rear it’s ugly head again. So why, don’t we get it? What Gives?
I have read so many things about this, and have never seriously tried any of their solutions. So again, I was reading something the other night about this very thing. It said to write out a plan, post it in visible view, and stick to it. So I am going to try this tactic. I will let you know how it’s working!!
Say a prayer for me!
