Family Time

Last night after our Life Group “Grasping God’s Word”, which was awesome, Ken, Silas, and I went to Orlando to spend the night and take a break!  We stayed in Downtown Orlando, which I have never stayed before.  It was really nice.  The room was given to us, and was the nicest Hotel I have ever stayed in before.  It was called “The Grand Bohemian”. Gorgeous!!  It was very artsy and very eclectic. We had a great time, slept in this morning and then headed home. Just that one night away, means so much.  You need to take time out with your family each week.  Friday is our “Family Day”  from sunup to sunset we do something together.  Breakfast, Lunch, an activity, and Dinner!  I can not stress how important this is!  Try it, and you will see.  You and your family deserve it!

The People Challenge

June 30, 2008 at 10:09 pm (Uncategorized)

What a great meeting I had this month in New York.  We talked about the People Challenge. How to incorporate new people, grow the ones we have, and handle the responsibility.  I really enjoyed this topic because our Worship Arts Ministry has recently tripled with people.  We had our Open House last March, Auditions in April and our Spring Season started in May.  I wish I had this meeting before our Spring Season, however I am so excited about our Fall Season Audition process.  I feel that I finally understand the process.  I first heard the People Challenge last December at their seminar.  I went with what I grasped and it paid off, we grew from 17 – 70.  Amazing!  I am very excited to see what will happen this next season.  We have required reading each month and I currently read a life changing book called, “360 Degree Leader” John  Maxwell.  Check it out!

Look For the Positive

June 28, 2008 at 8:53 am (Uncategorized)

I just arrived home from my Coaching Network in New York City.  I left Thursday at 11:25 a.m and returned at 4:24 a.m. this morning (it’s Saturday) My flight coming home was supposed to leave New York at 9:00 p.m. which would put us home at 1:30 a.m., however due to the weather my flight was delayed three times, 10:10, 11:20, 11:59.  We actually did not leave the airport till 12:02.  We arrived in Orlando at 2:32 a.m. then had to carry our luggage out to the parking lot.  Tired and sweaty we got in our car and pulled out of the parking garage.  I pulled into the first lane to pay your parking, and a gentleman around 37 was there to help us. By this time we have already been at an airport since 7:00 p.m. I was ready to get on the road towards home. Needless to say this man was not in a hurry, in fact he grabbed my debit card, did not even acknowledge me, and took his very sweet time.  By now I am starting to get aggravated. Right when I was about to lose my cool, I noticed two objects laying against the chair behind him. It was crutches, not the kind you put under your arms but the ones that have a cuff at the top to  rest your arm in.  He was a disabled.  Immediately I felt an overwhelming urge of concern.  First that he was having to work, second that he was out at this terminal by himself late at night with no one to help him, should he need assistance,  and lastly, that he seemedso sad. I then noticed that he was having trouble holding the card to swipe through the machine, this process took about four to five swipes before he got it right.  At that moment, I felt another overwhelming urge to pray for him. So I did, not out loud where he could hear me. He then handed me the receipt and looked up at me and said ”here is your receipt, have a nice night” in which I caught eye contact with him that I think caught him by surprise, and I said to him, thank you so much, you too!  Then out of nowhere he smiled. It was at that moment I found something positive.  I could have focused on how unfair it was that he was working at 2:30 a.m., or how that someone dishonest could have taken advantage of his disability.  But instead I felt that maybe my plane was delayed so that someone nice would enter his terminal, when he expected me to be rude, instead he received a smile that made him feel good about himself, and his job.  Take a moment to look for the positive, remember that man and help me pray that he find God and joy in his life. GOODNIGHT!

Poor Baby!

June 23, 2008 at 8:46 pm (Questions?)

I was wondering if you think it’s cruel that my son is always at the office with me.  Before you reply, let me tell you what the office offers him, he has his own box with toys, he has a scooter, he has his own personal laptop with a dvd holder of movies and private earphones, and he has all the treats he wants via the snack lady Peggy Powell.

I’m a Blogger!!

June 23, 2008 at 5:55 pm (Music and Dance, Uncategorized)

Wow, me a blogger, who’d a thunk it?  As you will see I am not a writer, however I am dramatic, so hopefully I can use that talent (my husband does not appreciate this talent) here in the blogging world.

A little bit about myself; I love GOD, I love my family, I love my church, and I love the arts.  Music, dance, drama , media you name it I like it.  I am currently watching “So You Think You Can Dance”. I love to watch how people interpret songs through dance and dramatic elements.  Mia Michaels and Shane Sparks are so far my favorite choreographers.  I seem to relate to their interpretations.  However, Shane sometimes gets a little raunchy. Check this out.  Now check out this. .  They are both amazing!
